Gytis Ivanauskas - Tyla, kuri pasako daugiau nei žodžiai

Silence, tranquility, and creative spontaneity—these are the key words that permeate this conversation with the actor and dancer Gytis IvanauskasHis world is not only the stage and reflections on art but also an inner journey, where answers often come not through words but through the pauses between them.
We invite you to a short meeting where Gytis reveals his relationship with creativity, time, and the tranquility of nature. He shares what inspires him, how he perceives mistakes, and why, instead of searching for the perfect answer, he chooses to remain open to surprises.

How would you introduce yourself to someone who doesn’t know you? Who is Gytis Ivanauskas?

The people closest to me would be the best to tell you about me. Even they don’t fully know me. But I believe they would say that Gytis Ivanauskas is love.

If you had to start everything from scratch tomorrow, would you choose the same profession, or would you like to try something completely different?

I would repeat all my mistakes. Because I believe that mistakes are just concepts imposed by someone else. Essentially, none of us truly make mistakes. We learn. I would repeat everything I have done. And I would repeat everything I will do.

How would you describe your creative process? Is it a spontaneous inspiration or a carefully thought-out plan?

Plans and considerations come with age and experience. However, even with age and experience, one should not meticulously plan everything, as spontaneity brings many unexpected results.

If "Konga Stay" were a stage for a performance, what story would you want to tell on it?

Being at your place, I didn't feel the need to tell stories. The best story was the silence in my mind, heart, and conscience.

Being a very creative person, do you feel that being in nature, by a lake or in the forest, encourages you to create? Do dance or theater ideas emerge in such an environment?

I’m not really a child of nature, perhaps because I never had a countryside or a farmhouse. My friends taught me to love nature. And your “Konga Stay” contributed to that. It feels so good to be in nature, in peace. Watching ducks, the passing deer. And thinking about nothing. Sometimes thinking about nothing is much more than trying to fix mistakes or organize life.

What nature sounds or sights bring you the most peace?

Water and fire. Both a river and the sea soothe me with their flowing or roaring sounds and their sights. I could also watch fire forever, and the crackling of a campfire truly brings peace.
